Stars and Stripes Songtext
von De La Hoya

Stars and Stripes Songtext

When I was young and went to school they stuffed my face with apple pie
Stand up and show some respect for your country and for those who died
But that was the last time I sucked on that poison
I can′t pledge allegiance to the stars and stripes again

We're one united state divided up by class and race
One nation under god
By whose god should I be awed?

In Washington they′ll start a war just to cover up their own ass
But we're the world's police man, so hell, why not bring back the draft
But it′s just one big show of police brutality
Conquest and world dominance: our foreign policy

I′m free to take all I can get and I'm free to starve out in the streets
I′m free to live the American dream and I'm free to be a bigoted freak
But I′m not free to think-they took that right from me
I gotta pay to get my way 'cause freedom isn′t free

We're one united state divided up by class and race
One nation under god
By whose god should I be awed?
My country, I ask thee: where is my liberty to act on what I've learned?
Now you′ll see the flags I′ve burned
