The Dream Songtext

The Dream Songtext
I had a dream I could speak to
A lovely day to call mine
A scarlet road that unfurled in the evening as I looked out
I had a dream I could speak to
Oh and we met in the dark
I never thought I′d find you here of all places, all places
Alcohol wetting my skin
What a scary birthday it had been
Champagne in the morning and drawing at night
The first week happened all on the inside
Champagne in the morning and drawing at night
What about the babies? I want them straight out
Winter passed, summer came
With no respite from the dream
It funnelled down like a submarine
Up at times we would come but mostly in the dark we'd run
And watch the beauty of the silver sheen
Past summer, babies came, into the unfinished house they splayed
Broken tiles glinting in the mess
Each morning before my eyes I′d clench my hands at the air around
Make sure no trick had been played
Then, the last night, the dream came
Finally calling out our names
I fell asleep, troubled but unaware although I knew
Life was but a dream in the end
A lovely day to call mine
A scarlet road that unfurled in the evening as I looked out
I had a dream I could speak to
Oh and we met in the dark
I never thought I′d find you here of all places, all places
Alcohol wetting my skin
What a scary birthday it had been
Champagne in the morning and drawing at night
The first week happened all on the inside
Champagne in the morning and drawing at night
What about the babies? I want them straight out
Winter passed, summer came
With no respite from the dream
It funnelled down like a submarine
Up at times we would come but mostly in the dark we'd run
And watch the beauty of the silver sheen
Past summer, babies came, into the unfinished house they splayed
Broken tiles glinting in the mess
Each morning before my eyes I′d clench my hands at the air around
Make sure no trick had been played
Then, the last night, the dream came
Finally calling out our names
I fell asleep, troubled but unaware although I knew
Life was but a dream in the end
