I'm Gonna Be An Astronaut Songtext

When I was young
Said, "Mom I′m gonna be an astronaut
And if you need me I'll be just above
So just look up."
Then I grew up
My world, it flooded
And the suits and governments retreated
And they went to space
(The astronauts are cowards anyway)

I try to stay hopeful
But who are you to cross my mind
It′s not about how you leave, it's what you leave behind

Growing up right now
Feels the way a siren sounds
When you're the one inside the house on fire
You can scream and shout
You can pray but all that counts
Is the mercy of the help outside
Don′t hang up

When I was young
Said I knew everything
My head was strong enough
To carry on my heavy heart
Then I grew up
I heard you cry
I tried to be there, tried to rectify
The times I heard you and I went to space
I was a coward then but not today

Growing up right now
Feels the way a siren sounds
When you′re the one inside the house on fire
You can scream and shout
You can pray but all that counts
Is the mercy of the help outside
Don't hang up

You wrapped your words up in pretty bouquets
And I bought ′em
Now's not the time to make enemies, babe
So just make me blush
Run your hands through my hair what a rush
Saying sorry like you′re salting a cut
I think you've said enough
I was calling your bluff
Like, "How cruel is your love?"
"Hey how cruel is your love?"
Darling, how cruel is your love

You were back-beat to the sound of the drum
Saying sorry like you′re salting a cut
Darling, how cruel is your love
How cruel is your love
