The winter wind is loud and wild
Come close to me, my darling child
Nothing to fear

And while the night is gathering grey
We′ll talk expensive hours away

A yearning round our sheltered hall
November's gusts unheeded call
Where tyrants came to fall

The night′s full of faint melodies
When cold winds blow
You can hear all their sighs

I dream of moor and misty hill
Where evening closes dark and chill

Oh not for them should we despair
The grave is drear, but they're not there
