The Legend of Ali Lake Mountain


In the Eighteenth Century
In the district of Kahramanmaras
A shepherd named Ali
Tended his flocks near the Nurhak Mountains
These mountains are very high and cold
In winter covered always in deep snow
Ali was in love with a girl whose name was Zohre
Who lived in the village at the foot of the mountains
And Zohre was in love with Ali
She was always on his mind
And when seeing her
Ali could not take his eyes from her
Ali and Zohre wandered the valleys in summer
And dreamt of their life together
