The Deafening Silence Songtext
von John Edmond
The Deafening Silence Songtext
It was quiet down at the Vatican.
Westminster and Saint Paul′s
But the silence at Whitehall and in the White House
Was the loudest silence of all.
Outside a New York high rise
United Nations' flags are unfurled.
But inside that shining house of glass
Were the silent voices of the world.
These are all the worldly places
Where the word democracy
Is bandied round with other words like
Justice, truth and honesty.
These are all the hypocrite haunts
Where all the powers that be
Speak up load against all crimes
Against humanity.
But when God′s lightning fills the sky,
Thunder follows from His Kingdom on high
Proclaiming His power and Glory and Might.
To a dark dark world as dark as the night;
But when an airliner's shot to the ground.
No condemnation from the world - not a sound.
The west fears the East and has nothing to say.
But the deafening silence-The deafening silence
Will be broken one day!
But where were they those tragic days
They shot our Viscounts down
And their murderous apprentices
Killed children without a frown.
They bayonetted babies and shot survivors
And to this very day
Everyone in those hallowed halls
Has yet not had a word to say.
But when God's lightning fills the sky,
Thunder follows from His Kingdom on high
Proclaiming His power and Glory and Might.
To a dark dark world as dark as the night;
But when an airliner′s shot to the ground.
No condemnation from the world - not a sound.
The west fears the East and has nothing to say.
But the deafening silence - The deafening silence
Will be broken one day!
But we will break that silence
With reminders down through the years
For closure for men and women and children
Though no one can forget the tears,
But we all know we must meet our Maker;
And at the front of the row queue will be that crowd
And they will be asked to answer why
Their silence was so loud.
But when God′s lightning fills the sky,
Thunder follows from His Kingdom on high
Proclaiming His power and Glory and Might.
To a dark dark world as dark as the night;
But when an airliner's shot to the ground.
No condemnation from the world - not a sound.
The west fears the East and has nothing to say.
But the deafening silence - The deafening silence
Will be broken one day!
Day... day... day...
