One day I called my friend on the phone
Something sounded different in her tone
I said, "Chris, is this you?"
And then she started to moo

My friend is a cow
I really don′t know how
She's bovine as can be
But she′s still a friend to me

I went over to her house right away
I could not believe my eyes that day
I thought she might be putting me on
But I found her eating grass on the lawn
Perhaps it was something she ate
That turned her to a walking steak
Perhaps it was a magic spell
That caused her to be wearing a bell


My friend is a cow
I really don't know how
She's bovine as can be
But she′s still a friend to me

I said she could stay at my house
If she was quiet as a mouse
But she made such a mess on the floor
That my parents kicked her out the door
Now when we walk around in school
All the people act really cool
They′re very polite when they meet her
It's sad to think someday they might eat her

I finally took her out to a farm
Where she could not do any harm
Now she sits in the pasture all day
In the wintertime she just eats hay
